Development of Human Potential and Generation of Knowledge and Innovations: Memorandum on Cooperation

Representatives of the Institute of Contemporary Development and the United Nations Development Program in the Russian Federation (UNDP) signed a memorandum “On Cooperation within Development of Human Potential and Generation of Knowledge and Innovations”.

INSOR and UNDP are both committed to The Millennium Development Goals of the United Nations, both realize importance of an intensive development of human capital because of its being among the key conditions for Russia’s modernization, and both recognize the need to boost energy and ecology efficiency of Russia’s economy. As a result, the parties agreed on the following:

The Institute of Contemporary Development hosted a roundtable discussion entitled “Provision of state services on the basis of departmental and regional call processing centers. Current status and development prospects.”

The event was organized by the Institute of Contemporary Development, the Institute of the Information Society and the expert group of the Presidential Council for the Development of the Information Society in Russia.

Among the key discussed topics were regional experience with handling hotlines for the population's inquiries, and integration of telephone/computer technologies and the state infrastructure of information and communication technologies.

The Institute of Contemporary Development hosted a roundtable entitled “Sustainable Development and Civil Society: Priorities of the Institute of Contemporary Development”, which was a joint initiative of INSOR and the Institute of Sustainable Development.

The event was attended by economic experts, representatives of the Public Chamber, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and the leading Russian scientists and experts.

Experts Discussion “Current Status and Prospects of Russia-NATO Relations”

The Institute of Contemporary Development hosted a meeting between Russian experts and a group of state officials, public figures and heads of public organizations from various European countries. The event participants focused on the current status and prospects of Russia-NATO relations.

Among the foreign guests were a former UK Minister of Defence D. Brown, a former Foreign Minister of the Czech Republic Jan Kavan, a former Foreign Minister and Minister of Finance of Italy Giorgio La Malfa, a former Adviser on Nuclear Proliferation to the British Prime Minister and a an MP Shirley Williams etc.

The Institute of Contemporary Development hosted a roundtable entitled “Development of Civilized Relations between the Business and Authorities”.

Participants of the discussion gathered to measure appropriateness of the formation of the institution of lobbying in Russia.

The event was attended by Chairman of the INSOR Management Board I.Yurgens, Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Property V.Pleskachevsky and other leading economy experts and representatives of the business community.

April 8 the Institute of Contemporary Development hosted a roundtable on “Decriminalization of Business: the Need to Update the Criminal Law in the Economic Area”.

The event was organized by the Center for Legislative and Economic Research together with the Institute of Contemporary Development.

Following the President’s recommendation to organize the development of a concept for modernizing criminal law in the economic sector, discussion of the Economic background of this concept was included in the meeting agenda.
