INSOR Presents Major Report – Attaining the Future: Strategy 2012

March 15, 2011

The Institute of Contemporary Development held a presentation of the report Attaining the Future: Strategy 2012. Synopsis. The report consists of two parts, and is a continuation of INSOR’s project Russia in the 21st Century: Vision for the Future, which was launched last year and provoked a serious and broad discussion about the future of the country.

One of the most frequent questions poised to the authors of the report was how exactly should the first steps be taken toward achievement of this “vision.” In the new report the authors propose their scenario for this plan, a sort of road map that could serve as a launching point for public discussion.

The authors invite to the discussion table all those who share their fundamental values, such as democracy, a market economy, openness to the outside world, honesty, etc., and who would be willing to present to the future president their preferences on what he should do. The experts hope that as a result of the discussions undertaken, the politician who one year from now will become President of Russia will receive from society a mandate on how to successful modernize the country.

The presentation was broadcast live to universities in real time online at 20 universities throughout Russia – from Vladivostok to Kaliningrad.

The text of the report can be found here in Russian and here in English.
