Crisis vs Stable Social Order

December 11, 2008

The Institute of Contemporary Development held an expert discussion on Crisis vs Stable Social Order: Social Risks and Ways to Manage Them.  The event was organized together with the Public Opinion Foundation, whose social survey served as a basis for discussion.

The discussion focused on the various aspects of the population’s perceptions of and concerns about the economic crisis, the sensitivities of different social groups, changes in key social indicators, and topical problems of the stability of social order in such conditions.  The experts considered how best to monitor social economic and political indicators as expressions of the crisis.

The roundtable was moderated by INSOR Chairman Igor Yurgens and the survey results were presented by Alexander Oslon, President of the Public Opinion Foundation and a member of INSOR’s management board.  Participants of the discussion included Deputy Minister of Economic Development Alexandra Levitskaya, representatives of federal agencies, the business community, NGOs and the academic community.
